WHAT IS IRON?
Iron is a pigment that turns the blood red and carries oxygen
through the bloodstream from the lungs to all bodily tissue. Without adequate iron you couldn't
exercise. Iron is easily lost through sweat, urine and menstrual flow. Deficiencies are common in
athletes. Runners in particular.
Iron helps with stress and disease. Iron also prevents fatigue and promotes good skin tone. It keeps
our bodies healthy and boost our immune systems. The RDA recommends 10 mg for men and 18 mg for
women daily.
DEFICIENCY SYMPTOMS: May result in weakness, paleness
of skin, constipation, anemia.
