   Lactic acid is by-product of glucose (Blood Sugar) and glycogen (The storage form
 of glucose that is processed into energy, commonly called animal starch) do to strenuous exercising activity. It is transported by the blood to the liver, where it is reconverted to glucose and returned as blood glucose
 to the muscles. Recovery follows when your muscles gain enough oxygen and the lactic acid is once again turned into glycogen.
